Tasburgh History

Tasburgh History

INTRODUCTION: The late Sylvia Addington had a passion for history. The changes in our landscape, buildings and way of life held a fascination for her and she spent many hours researching the subject. She wrote a series of articles for the Tasburgh Quarterly which may well have been a trial run for a history of the village but her untimely death meant that this was never realised.
The parish council felt that, as a tribute to her, these articles should form the basis of a history of Tasburgh which they would be prepared to publish. With the agreement of Sylvia Addington's daughter, Mary, we have been pleased to attempt this project.
It quickly became clear to us that a great deal of new and additional information had become available and our researches have enabled us to expand the scope of this history, particularly in respect of early and recent times. We detail our sources in the bibliography and thank all those who so kindly gave interviews, comments and advice.

This is your history ... it is also today's history for in chapter nine we have brought the story up to date so that your children and future generations may see something of us as we are today. We have greatly enjoyed piecing this together and hope that you will find it of interest.
