St Mary’s Congregation has a range of ages and we try to accommodate different styles over the course of the month. Lay people are active in helping to lead and plan worship and we have a small but enthusiastic choir. Tasburgh also is host to a new monthly Praise Service and a midday prayer meeting on Wednesdays for the ministry of the whole benefice.
The Emmanuel Group meets on Fridays in Tasburgh and prays for the needs of the parish. The church building is currently kept locked when not in use but we hope that it can be opened more for private prayer in the future. A key to the church can be obtained on request.

The Church Building Although it may well have been preceded by a wooden building a little Saxon church of flint and mortar was built about 1050. It had a forty feet high round tower, from the inside of which a lofty seventeen feet internal arch led into a simple nave only nineteen feet wide and estimated to be thirty-nine feet long.
The tower exists today, although later extended by nine feet. All that remains of the first nave are projecting sections of the wall clearly visible on either side of the tower, a most unusual decoration on the tower is a series of 'blind' arcades let into the surface.
St. Mary the Virgin is a Saxon round tower church built in about 1050. The interior is recently reordered and can accommodate a range of activities including choirs, concerts and other performances. There are 5 bells that are regularly rung for services, festivals and other occasions. We are currently raising £30,000 to do essential repairs to the church tower.
Please contact a member of the church team if you would like to contribute. MISSION AND SERVICE Fairtrade.
Tasburgh has become a "Fairtrade Church" with a stall run by Val Cook. Valerie also regularly sells fairly traded goods at the local Primary School. Samaritans Purse. We join with the school at Christmas to send boxes of presents to orphans in developing nations through Samaritans Purse. www.samaritanspurse.org
The Alpha Course – A chance to find out more about the Christian faith – details of the current course can be obtained from the church or the church team. Links with Preston (CofE) Primary School - Several members of the PCC support Preston Primary as Governors and Members of the Friends Association. Clergy regularly take assemblies there and run workshops with the children every term.

Finance It costs an average of £431 a week to maintain our church and its ministry. Most of this money is needed to pay for clergy and their housing as well as the upkeep of the church building and churchyard.
This money comes from the giving of the church family. It’s an average of £14 per week per adult congregation member. If you are able to contribute, the best way is to make your gifts via a Standing Order.
It makes planning easier and it reduces the amount of cash handled in church. If you are a UK tax payer you can increase the value to the church of your gift by using Gift Aid.
The church can then claim back the tax. If you are a basic rate tax payer for every £1 you give, the church can claim back a further 28p. An alternative to a Standing Order with Gift Aid is Payroll Giving in which your gift is deducted from your pay before tax is deducted.
Ask your personnel or payroll department for further details. You can cancel a Standing Order or Payroll Giving instruction at any time.
Social Events to look out for: Harvest Lunch, Musical evenings at Rainthorpe Hall, Fete, Flowers and Art Festival. St Mary's Guild organize regular fundraising events, including coffee mornings throughout the year..
